Example Suggestion:

3 dirt + 2 sapplings = 2 grass (already implemented)

4 dirt + 2 water + 2 snow blocks = 4 ice

Not a suggestion but in regards to last's announcement about the cauldron recipies, you cant have up to 4 different materials on each level (2 levels) which makes a max of 8 materials per recipie. In other words, you don't need to have only one material on a level.

In regards to the recipies that last has already implemented...


1) grass:3*3,6*2:2*2 (3 dirt + 2 saplings = 2 grass)
2) stone:4*3,3*2:1*2 (3 cobblestone + 2 dirt = 1 stone)
3) glowstone:4*4,50*4:89*1 (4 cobblestone + 4 torches = 1 glowstone)
4) soulsand:19*3,12*2:88*1 (3 sponge + 2 sand = 1 soulsand)
5) netherrack:4*4,88*2:87*1 (4 cobblestone + 2 soulsand = 1 netherrack)


personal opinions on each:

1) grass: This is fine, it's the example given to use by the creators of craftbook.

2) stone: Why do we need a recipie for stone? Especially if it's only going to produce one stone, the time taken to complete this recipie multile times to create anything substantial out of stone would be the same amount of time needed to create a treefarm and wait for trees to grow as an unlimited supply of fuel to make 3x the amount of stone from your cobble.

3) glowstone: This is typicaly the recipie I suggest for glowstone but once 1.2_01 is working on the server the cobble should be changed to glass now that notch has made torches able to be placed on glass. Also, I think that this should create 2 glowstone rather than one.

4) soulsand: First off, you haven't made a recipie for sponge so at the moment this is impossible to obtain. Secondly, once 1.2_01 is available, my recipe would be (2 sandstone + 2 dirt + 2 sand + 2 water = 10 soulsand).

5) netherrack: Same issue with soulsand, sponges aren't available so you can't make soulsand ith which you can't make netherrack. My recipie for netherrack would be (4 cobblestone + 4 redstone dust = 2 netherrack).

Sorry that this isn't a suggestion or recipe but WHAT is this?

I realize it's a mod on the server, but I'm not too acquainted with minecraft mods. Where would we craft these things?

Ah, sorry for the confusion. Let me clarify.

Craftbook is a plugin which includes MANY smaller features that you may never learn about while using the server. The feature in question here is the Cauldron function.

To make a caldron, you must dig a hole that is 2x2 and 3 blocks deep. The sides of the cauldron MUST be made of smooth-stone. The bottom layer is filled with 4 source blocks of lava. This leaves a 2x2x2 area surrounded by smooth-stone at the top. This 2x2x2 area is where the crafting ingredients are placed.

For example, to make 2 grass: there would be 4 lava in the bottom level, 3 dirt in the middle level and 2 saplings on 2 of the dirt.

Be wary of how certain materials' physics make them move however. (Ex. water could fall and turn lava into obsidian or sand could fall into lava and take a spot on lowest level.) This means things like sand, water, gravel, etc. need to be placed on the top level with a stable block supporting them from below.

The cauldron is mainly to help obtain items typicaly unobtainable through natural gameplay (Ex. Grass, ice, and glowstone because nether doesn'y yet function.
